Fashion designer Julien Macdonald has agreed to repay £150,000 to creditors after his company, Julien Macdonald Ltd, went into liquidation three years ago, a report from the liquidators has disclosed. The company's liquidation left creditors, many of whom were self-employed, owed £524,000, with Macdonald's employees also facing claims of £162,000.

Macdonald, 55, reportedly disputed owing at least £400,000, which the liquidators attributed to "excessive remuneration in the lead-up to the liquidation." Following legal action initiated by the liquidators, a settlement was reached. The agreement permits Macdonald to make the repayment in installments, with the first due at the end of last month and the final payment scheduled for the end of March.

One self-employed creditor expressed that the £150,000 settlement would likely be consumed by legal fees and liquidator payments, leaving them with "nothing, not one penny." This creditor was among those recruited by Macdonald for a fashion show in 2023.

Macdonald, known for designing outfits for figures including Queen Camilla, has declined to comment on the matter. He recently designed a burger box for McDonald's.
