Jason Tessmann, a dairy farmer from Queensland, has confirmed his relationship with "Farmer Wants A Wife" co-star Poppy has ended, but the former couple disagree on the details of their breakup.
Tessmann stated that Poppy, a business manager, ended their relationship shortly after the reunion episode was filmed, leaving him surprised. He told New Idea that the romance unraveled within days of filming wrapping, with Poppy saying she "wasn't feeling it."
However, Poppy has presented a different account, suggesting they continued dating for approximately three months after the reunion. She indicated that the decision to end the relationship was due to fundamental differences and a lack of strong romantic attraction, stating she did not wish to "string anybody along."
According to Tessmann, he and Poppy knew each other for about three months, including the show's production period. He clarified that their relationship post-reunion lasted only a few days. He recalled flying home on a Sunday and described a period of reduced communication from Poppy during the week, culminating in a phone call where she announced the breakup.
Poppy confirmed ending the relationship via a phone call, explaining that after spending time getting to know Tessmann, she realized he was not someone she could see a long-term future with. She emphasized her belief that continuing the relationship would not have been fair given her feelings.
The split was particularly difficult for Tessmann as Poppy had become integrated into his family life. They spent Christmas together following the initial filming and before the reunion, and Tessmann introduced her to his children. He noted that his children liked Poppy and were upset by her departure.
While Poppy's views on having children were a significant topic during the series, both Tessmann and Poppy insist it was not a factor in their breakup, as they had discussed it early on.
Despite the heartbreak, Tessmann expressed no regrets about participating in the reality television series, though he admitted to feeling "a bit embarrassed" that the relationship ended so soon after filming concluded.
