Erik Ibsen, the champion of last season's Fantasy Premier League (FPL), has revealed his top strategies for success in the popular game. Ibsen emphasizes the importance of key players and team balance.

Despite his high cost, Ibsen plans to include Erling Haaland in his team again this season. "There's no-one else like Haaland," Ibsen stated, acknowledging the player's £15.5m price tag, the highest in FPL history. He believes that building a competitive team around Haaland is achievable because other player costs are lower. "You can still make a great team around him because everyone else is so cheap," he explained. Ibsen's strategy allows for a strong lineup, including talents like Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Joao Pedro, alongside a capable goalkeeper and defense.

Haaland's consistent performance also simplifies captaincy choices, a crucial aspect of FPL. "If you're in doubt about who to captain, you always have him. He's a really nice player to have," Ibsen noted. This consistent option helps to streamline tactical decisions throughout the season.
