Fans Cheer 'Iconic' Chicken Run Bake on Great British Bake Off

The Great British Bake Off captivated viewers with Tom's "iconic" showstopper bake during Pasty Week, a creative homage to the animated film Chicken Run.

Tom's creation earned him a handshake from judge Paul Hollywood, a rare distinction, and secured him the Star Baker title for the third time this season. The bake's thematic connection to Chicken Run, a film about hens attempting to escape their fate, resonated strongly with the audience.

Viewers took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express their delight. Comments included "a chicken run inspired pie is possibly the best thing i’ve ever seen on bake off #gbbo," and "Not Tom making a chicken run chicken pie when the whole film is about chickens who don't want to be made Into pies #GBBO." Another user remarked, "A CHICKEN RUN PIE??? I’VE SEEN ENOUGH. TOM YOU ARE MY STAR BAKER THIS WEEK. #gbbo."

Meanwhile, Clara was the latest contestant to be eliminated from the competition. Her signature challenge bakes, venison pies and a Polish Karpatka dessert, did not impress the judges.

The episode also revisited a challenging Bread Week, where a technical bake proved difficult for all remaining contestants. The task involved creating eight flatbreads with a grape and blue cheese filling within a tight one-hour timeframe. The pressure resulted in most of the bakes being undercooked.

Judge Nigella Lawson humorously suggested that the bakers should be forced to eat their own raw creations as a punishment. Paul Hollywood also expressed his disappointment, stating that the technical challenge was likely "the worst technical I think I have ever seen in 17 years."
