Family of NBC Reporter Killed in Helicopter Crash Shares Heartbreak

The family of Eliana Moreno, an NBCLA helicopter reporter who died in a fiery crash on Tuesday, has shared their grief and pride in a public statement.

"Since she was 11 years old, Eliana dreamed of becoming a news reporter. Through hard work and courage, she turned that dream into a reality," her family stated in a message posted by her brother, Johan Moreno, on X.

Moreno, 38, was aboard an NBC helicopter covering an SUV's collision with a Metro bus when the aircraft fell from the sky. The crash also claimed the lives of pilot George Marciniw and pedestrian Edy Gutierrez Mejia.

"We find comfort in knowing that Eliana left this world doing the very thing she loved, pursuing the passion she carried with her since she was a little girl," the family's statement continued. "We are infinitely proud of her and feel incredibly blessed to have had the privilege of loving her and calling her ours."

Moreno is survived by her five siblings, her fiancé, stepchildren, and dogs.
