The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the rapper D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, as he faces criminal charges in her alleged murder. The lawsuit, which also names D4vd's manager, mother, and live-in security guard, comes one year after Rivas' dismembered remains were discovered in the trunk of the musician's Tesla.

D4vd has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, and mutilating a body in connection with the death of the 14-year-old.

Rivas' family has expressed support for the death penalty if D4vd is convicted, describing him to The California Post as a person "without conscience."

The funeral for Celeste Rivas was held on Oct. 6, 2025, in Rowland Heights.
