The family of Isobel 'Izzy' Reyland, 26, has paid tribute to her after she died from injuries sustained when she was hit by a taxi on Aigburth Road in Liverpool last Wednesday.
Reyland, who was originally from south Wales, was struck by a white Toyota Voxy private hire taxi around 5:40 p.m. She was taken to the hospital but died shortly after the collision. Her family described her as a "loving and deeply loved daughter, sister, aunty, granddaughter, niece, cousin and sister-in-law" who was "living her life to the fullest" in the city she loved.
"We are totally devastated and utterly heartbroken as a family at the loss of our darling Izzy," the family said in a statement. "Izzy - you will always be with us and our deepest love for you is everlasting."
The crash occurred on the city-bound carriageway of Aigburth Road, near Fulwood Road. Witnesses reported that members of the public administered CPR to Reyland before emergency services arrived.
The taxi driver, a 41-year-old man, remained at the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving while under the influence of drugs. He has since been released under investigation.
Merseyside Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the collision. Detective Sergeant Andy Roper urged anyone with information, particularly those with dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident, to come forward. The force also asked residents with CCTV systems or Ring doorbells to check their footage for any relevant recordings.
