Family Flees Cheesecake Factory After Rodent Sighting During Birthday Dinner
A family's birthday celebration at an Oregon Cheesecake Factory was cut short after a rodent was spotted scurrying across the ceiling.
A family outing to celebrate a birthday at The Cheesecake Factory in Oregon ended abruptly when a rodent was seen moving across the restaurant's ceiling. Maria Hernandez, 19, and her relatives were dining at the Clackamas Town Center location on October 14 when other patrons alerted them to the sighting.
According to Hernandez, the family heard diners discussing a creature above them. Upon looking up, they saw what appeared to be a rat moving across the ceiling, with its nose and ears visible over their table. Hernandez captured a video of the rodent before it moved out of sight.
"We really thought it was going to just jump down because it was just looking at us and it was looking at the food right there on the table," Hernandez told The Oregonian. The group consisted of Hernandez and 12 family members.
Their server offered to move the family to a different table and provide fresh food, but they opted to leave the restaurant. The Cheesecake Factory did not charge them for the meal. The family subsequently ate at a nearby Mexican restaurant.
Clips of the incident were shared on TikTok, where they garnered reactions ranging from shock to amusement. Some users made lighthearted comparisons to the Disney Pixar film "Ratatouille."
