Family Demands Justice After Dog Killed in Hit-and-Run
Pet German Shepherd, Titus, was struck and killed by a silver truck that did not stop, according to surveillance footage and distraught owners.
A Florida family is seeking justice after their pet German Shepherd, Titus, was killed in a hit-and-run incident last Tuesday. Surveillance footage captured a silver truck striking the dog and continuing down Goodman Avenue in Port St. Lucie without stopping.
Michelle and Dillon Baker, Titus's owners, expressed their grief and outrage over the incident. "I want justice served because you didn’t stop; you killed my dog after you hit him," Michelle Baker told WPBF. Dillon Baker added, "That’s a crime, that’s a full-on crime, it’s murder." The couple also noted the emotional toll the loss has taken on their two young children.
The incident is being investigated by Port St. Lucie Animal Control as a hit and run. Titus and his sibling, Gypsy, had reportedly jumped over their fence and run into the road. The Bakers attempted to locate the dogs using GPS trackers but found Titus deceased.
According to the owners, the truck driver stopped briefly after the initial impact but then continued to drive away, dragging the animal. "He knew he hit something because he stopped. And then he just keep going," Dillon Baker recounted.
Gypsy, the other German Shepherd, survived the incident but reportedly witnessed Titus's death and has been deeply affected by the event.
