Falcons Fans Turn on Team Amidst Nightmare Start to Season

Atlanta Falcons fans voiced their discontent during the team's Week 2 defeat against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Falcons fell to an 0-2 record for the season under new head coach Kevin Stefanski following a significant loss to their NFC South rivals.

Carolina secured a 34-3 victory, with quarterback Bryce Young passing for 287 yards and three touchdowns. Devin Lloyd contributed with a pick-six after intercepting two of the Falcons' passes. The Falcons' offensive struggles were compounded by the absence of starting quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa, with third-stringer Cooper Rush under center.

Rush completed 10 of 17 passes for 86 yards, throwing two interceptions and fumbling once. Fans began booing approximately six minutes into the game due to the team's performance, which included Rush fumbling on the opening drive. The second possession ended with an interception of a pass intended for Bijan Robinson.

Undrafted rookie Jack Strand replaced Rush late in the third quarter. Strand's first possession resulted in an interception returned for a touchdown by Lloyd. Strand also fumbled a snap on his final possession. The Falcons' sole points came from a 41-yard field goal by Nick Folk.

The Panthers extended their winning streak in the NFC South rivalry to four games. Young improved his record against the Falcons to 5-1. Last season, Young set a franchise record with 448 passing yards in an overtime victory against Atlanta. In contrast to their previous game, a 59-37 loss where the Panthers' defense allowed franchise records for points and rushing touchdowns, they limited the Falcons to 286 total yards, including 72 rushing yards from Robinson.
