Falcons' Bijan Robinson Compares Coach Stefanski's Speech to Martin Luther King Jr.
Running back Bijan Robinson lauded head coach Kevin Stefanski's motivational speech following a tough loss, drawing a comparison to the Civil Rights leader.
Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson drew a striking comparison between his head coach Kevin Stefanski's locker room speech and the powerful oratory of Martin Luther King Jr.
Robinson made the comments following the Falcons' decisive 35-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday. He recounted how Stefanski addressed the team after a significant 34-3 blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.
"He just brought everybody, all the players together," Robinson said on the Prime Video broadcast. "And he was saying like, 'Are we gonna let this loss define us? Is this who we're gonna be as a team, or are we gonna just change it right now and, you know, try to flip the switch?'"
Robinson elaborated on the impact of Stefanski's words, stating, "I don’t know if he drank some coffee or something, but he said this speech. It was like Martin Luther King was in there, man."
The comparison prompted a surprised reaction from analyst Richard Sherman on the broadcast.
Later, Robinson seemingly walked back the high praise slightly on social media platform X, writing, "Yup I just saying stuff sometimes lol. Was [an] awesome speech for the team though."
When asked about Robinson's remarks, Stefanski responded with a touch of humor, suggesting his own rhetoric might have been less measured than King's.
"I don’t think Dr. King used as many f-bombs as I did," Stefanski said Friday, according to ESPN.
Stefanski is in his first season as the Falcons' head coach. He was hired in the offseason after being dismissed from his previous role with the Cleveland Browns, with general manager Matt Ryan bringing him to Atlanta.
