The Diocese of La Paz has publicly warned the faithful and the wider community about Gregorio Díaz Mora, a self-proclaimed "spiritual father" accused of conducting fraudulent Catholic sacraments, including weddings and baptisms, across Baja California Sur, Mexico.

The diocese stated that Díaz Mora is not a recognized priest of the Catholic Church and holds no authorization to perform any sacraments within the state. Church officials allege he has used images of local landmarks, such as the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Paz, on social media to lend an air of legitimacy to his operations. He promotes himself on platforms including Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, where he has amassed approximately 140,000 followers.

Díaz Mora reportedly offers paid video consultations and performs rites that appear to be Catholic ceremonies. According to Catholic canon law, sacraments administered by an imposter are considered invalid. This means individuals who were married or had their children baptized by Díaz Mora would need to undergo these sacraments again with an authorized priest for them to be recognized by the Church.

This alert marks the first official warning of its kind issued by the diocese in Baja California Sur. Church leaders are urging Catholics to verify the credentials of any individual claiming to be a priest before engaging their services or making financial commitments. A simple phone call to a local parish could help prevent families from spending money on invalid ceremonies and uncertain spiritual commitments.
