Daejon Love, who allegedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women out of more than $1 million, was arrested on Aug. 24 at the Boise Airport in Idaho. Federal agents captured the arrest on video, showing Love being taken from a sports car in handcuffs while wearing 49ers apparel.

Taylor Chan, 18, who is accused of assisting Love in the scheme, was also apprehended at the airport. Prosecutors stated in a federal court filing that Chan had flown from California to meet Love, who was reportedly arriving in a Corvette. According to the filing, Love had no ties to Idaho beyond his alleged fraudulent activities there.

Love and Chan face felony charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. They are accused of using dating apps and investment promises to swindle 26 women out of $1.3 million between February 2022 and their arrest date. The victims allegedly sent money before Love and Chan disappeared.

Chan was released from custody under specific conditions. Love, however, was ordered to remain detained pending a future court date in Oregon. If convicted, both men could face a maximum of 20 years in prison for each charge.
