A partial solar eclipse is expected to be visible across parts of the South West on Wednesday evening, offering an opportunity to witness a significant celestial event. The eclipse is anticipated to begin around 18:18 BST, reach its peak at 19:15, and conclude at approximately 20:10.
Consultant ophthalmologist David Jones emphasized the importance of taking precautions to view the eclipse safely. He recommended several methods, including the use of certified eclipse glasses, or employing indirect viewing techniques such as a pinhole projector, a colander, or a cereal box to observe the phenomenon. Jones encouraged the public not to miss this "amazing celestial event" but stressed the necessity of enjoying it in a manner that safeguards vision.
