Executive Kills Wife, Daughter, Self in New Jersey Mansion
Authorities identified David Grodnick, 61, as the perpetrator in the apparent murder-suicide that also claimed the lives of his wife, Lora, 62, and daughter, Sloane, 24.
An insurance executive fatally shot his wife and daughter before taking his own life in their $1.7 million home in Montgomery Township, New Jersey, officials announced Tuesday.
David Grodnick, 61, his wife Lora, 62, and their daughter Sloane, 24, were discovered with gunshot wounds inside the residence. The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office ruled the deaths of Lora and Sloane Grodnick as homicides and David Grodnick's death as a suicide.
Law enforcement officials were dispatched to the home last Thursday following a welfare check request. After failing to establish contact with the family, officers gained entry to the property on Friday, where they found the two women in separate bedrooms and David Grodnick with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities stated that the investigation remains ongoing but has thus far indicated that the homicide deaths were an isolated incident and pose no threat to the public. No further information was immediately available.
According to Montgomery News, Grodnick was a senior vice president at Land Services USA, an insurance agency. He held a degree in business administration from the University of Miami and a BA in English from McDaniel College.
Sloane Grodnick was a graduate of The Hun School, a private boarding school in Princeton, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. The family had relocated from Princeton to Montgomery Township and were members of the Bedens Brook Country Club in Skillman.
