Bodycam footage released on social media Friday shows Coral Springs police officer Marlon “Magic” Moraes, a former UFC fighter, restraining an aggressive motorist during a traffic stop on March 27.
The video captures the motorist, who had been pulled over, becoming verbally abusive toward a female officer, telling her to “Shut the f—k up.” The motorist then confronted Moraes, making physical gestures and insults.
When informed that his car would be towed, the motorist continued to escalate the situation, stepping towards Moraes and threatening him. Moraes issued a warning, stating, “You’re one step away from making it worse for you.” The motorist responded by taking two more steps toward the officer.
In response, Moraes executed a hip toss, bringing the individual to the ground. Other officers then moved in to handcuff the motorist.
Moraes, who retired from professional fighting in 2023, joined the Davie Police Department in June 2024 before transitioning to the Coral Springs Police Department later that year. The viral video emerged on the same day Moraes returned to professional fighting with a win in São Paulo, Brazil.
Moraes previously competed in the World Series of Fighting before his tenure in the UFC.
