Bodycam footage captured the moment a motorist attempted to fight a police officer in Florida, who turned out to be former UFC fighter Marlon Moraes. The incident occurred during a traffic stop on March 27 in Coral Springs.
The driver became confrontational with Officer Moraes, issuing a challenge, "What are you gonna do? You can't do s***." Moraes, who has over 20 professional wins in MMA, responded calmly before the driver approached him.
Moraes then performed a hip toss on the man, quickly followed by pinning him to the ground with the assistance of other officers. During the confrontation, Moraes warned the man, "Do not step against me. You want to go? You're going to go."
Moraes retired from the UFC in 2023 and transitioned to a law enforcement career. He joined the Davie Police Department in Florida in June 2024 before moving to the Coral Springs Police Department.
The footage of the traffic stop incident went viral on social media the same day Moraes celebrated a return to combat sports. He defeated Maximiliano Perez by unanimous decision in Sao Paulo, Brazil, marking his first fight after a three-year break. Moraes previously held the bantamweight title in the World Series of Fighting, defending it five times before joining the UFC, where he secured wins against notable fighters such as Aljamain Sterling and Jose Aldo.
