Former TCU safety Jacob Fields was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, according to reports.

Fields, who was dismissed from the TCU football team on August 18 following an alleged altercation with a teammate, turned himself in and is being held at Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas. His agent, Phillip Miller, told ESPN that Fields is expected to be released on bond Sunday.

The charge stems from an alleged incident earlier this month where Fields is accused of punching TCU receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the locker room. The incident was reported to the police by TCU general manager Ryan Dorchester. Ezukanma, in a since-deleted video posted on Instagram, alleged that Fields knocked him unconscious with a "sucker-punch."

Miller previously issued a statement disputing parts of the online narrative. "Like much of what circulates online, a significant portion of what has been shared on social media regarding this situation is false or purely speculative," Miller wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Jacob Fields and his family have not nor will have any further comment on the situation."

Fields spent his first three collegiate seasons at Louisiana Tech, where he was named Conference USA's Co-Defensive Player of the Year last season before transferring to TCU.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes addressed the incident prior to the team's season opener, calling it "something that was certainly out of character for the team and the young man that was involved."
