A veteran Suffolk County police officer admitted this week that he co-managed a Holbrook brothel while on the force as part of a Long Island prostitution ring, prosecutors said.

George Trimigliozzi, 56, an 18-year department veteran who had been a six-time “Cop of the Month,” pleaded guilty last week to enterprise corruption, prostitution-related charges and official misconduct, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office announced. He faces up to two years in prison and is due to be sentenced on Nov. 12. Prosecutors said he also pleaded guilty to unlawful imprisonment for holding a woman captive in his car and faces an additional 30-day sentence for that charge.

Prosecutors said Trimigliozzi co-managed the Holbrook brothel, operated under the name American Girls Spa, with other defendants in a sex-trafficking operation that ran on Long Island between 2019 and 2024. The ring allegedly was run by 61-year-old Frank Saggio and his 33-year-old companion, Dana Ciardullo, who together operated multiple brothels including a West Babylon location prosecutors called the "Tunnel of Love."

Saggio, whom prosecutors described as a reputed mob associate, agreed to forfeit nearly $1.9 million and faces a prison term of two to six years when he returns to court on Dec. 18. Ciardullo agreed to a six-month prison sentence and is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 12, the DA's office said. The three leaders who pleaded guilty last week were among several defendants arrested after an investigation that ended with arrests in April 2025.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said the guilty pleas demonstrate accountability for public servants who violated their oaths. "While it is always disappointing when public servants betray their oaths, these resolutions demonstrate that my office will ensure serious consequences for corrupt actions," Tierney said in a statement.

Prosecutors say the defendants charged sex workers between $6,000 and $12,000 a month to operate at the brothels. Authorities seized property connected to the investigation, including a Fire Island residence tied to Saggio.

The investigation also led to charges against a former Islip School District gym teacher, Steven Arey, 53, who was fired after 26 years with the district. Arey has been indicted on charges including enterprise corruption and 27 counts of promoting prostitution; he has not pleaded guilty. Court records and prosecutors allege that Trimigliozzi and Arey ran American Girls Spa together.

Prosecutors detailed an incident from March 19, 2021, in which Trimigliozzi abandoned his official post and drove at high speed — approximately 90 mph, they allege — to the Holbrook location after receiving a report of a robbery at the site. That conduct was cited in the official misconduct charge to which he pleaded guilty.

The defendants were arrested following a lengthy probe by the district attorney’s office and local law enforcement. The plea agreements reached last week resolved counts of enterprise corruption, prostitution promotion and other related offenses against several alleged organizers of the ring.

Court filings indicate the investigation sought to dismantle an organized operation that profited from the commercial sex industry across multiple Long Island locations. Sentencing dates for Trimigliozzi and Ciardullo are set for Nov. 12; Saggio will return to court on Dec. 18 for sentencing and consideration of his forfeiture agreement.

Prosecutors said their office will continue to pursue charges and forfeiture remedies against others implicated in the case as the investigation and prosecutions continue.
