Former Fox Sports presenter Tiffany Salmond has spoken out about a late-night phone call that she made two years ago, which has since become a significant scandal in Australian sports media. Salmond revealed that the call, made to her colleague Jake Duke, ultimately led to the dissolution of Duke's relationship with Grace Fitzgibbon.
Salmond stated that she was unaware of the extent of Duke's relationship with Fitzgibbon at the time. "I was completely oblivious to the fact that Jake Duke was in a three-year relationship," Salmond said on the podcast 'The Debrief with Savanna Young.' She described Duke as a "work friend" and said she did not know he had a girlfriend.
According to Salmond, the call to Duke was not her initial plan. "The funniest thing is he wasn't actually the first person I called," she stated. The revelation suggests that Duke was a secondary choice for her to contact that evening.
The fallout from the call resulted in Fitzgibbon moving out of the couple's apartment. Salmond's own contract with Fox Sports, which covered the 2025 NRL season, was not renewed following the controversy.
