Ex-Sergeant Faces Charges for Alleged Improper Relationships with Eight Women

A former police sergeant has appeared in court accused of attempting to form improper sexual or emotional relationships with eight women, including two colleagues and a domestic abuse victim. Tarjinderjit Nizzer, who served with Derbyshire Police, faces eight counts of misconduct in public office, spanning from January 2020 to November 2024.

The charges stem from an investigation by the force's Counter Corruption Unit, initiated after a referral in 2024. Nizzer, who resigned as a Neighbourhood Sergeant earlier this year, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday. He confirmed his name, address, and date of birth, speaking only briefly during the hearing.

Prosecutors allege that the 57-year-old contacted six members of the public and two serving police officers to pursue inappropriate relationships. Specific allegations include asking a colleague for her personal phone number, messaging her while she was on holiday, making sexual comments, requesting to see a tattoo on her leg, and repeatedly asking her to meet him outside of work. He is also accused of offering favorable support in connection with her duties.

Another colleague reportedly received unsolicited emails from Nizzer, was given his personal mobile number, and had meetings arranged under false pretenses, accompanied by unwanted advances. The charges also state that Nizzer made inappropriate comments to a domestic abuse victim about her body, sent her messages, and approached her in public.

He is further accused of calling another woman his "dream girl," providing her with money, and asking for "selfies" of her posterior. In addition to the misconduct charges, Nizzer is accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice and computer misuse, specifically for allegedly canceling a traffic offense concerning the father of one of the women.

Nizzer did not enter pleas at the hearing. He was released on unconditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on October 30. District Judge Sunil Khanna informed Nizzer that nine of the ten charges must be heard at the Crown Court, where he will be expected to enter his formal pleas.
