Ex-Professor Charged With Rape, Choking of Student on Farmingdale State Campus

A former professor at Farmingdale State College has been accused of raping and choking a female student on the university's campus.

Antoine Munfakh, 44, faces charges of first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree rape, and criminal obstruction of breathing. Authorities allege that on Oct. 15, Munfakh groped the student, strangled her with her own lanyard, and forced her to perform oral sex on him in his car in a campus parking lot. The incident reportedly occurred around 2:48 p.m.

Farmingdale State College officials released a statement condemning the alleged attack and acknowledging the swift response from law enforcement. "Farmingdale State College takes all matters involving the health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff with the utmost seriousness," the statement read. "We are thankful for the partnership of the Suffolk County Police Department, who immediately alerted Farmingdale State College (FSC) University Police upon receiving the 911 call." The college added that FSC University Police "swiftly responded to assist our student and provide immediate care."

Munfakh, a resident of Freeport, worked as an adjunct professor in the Aviation Administration Department at the suburban campus from August 2024 to June 2025. Farmingdale State College, located in Babylon, is primarily a commuter school with approximately 10,000 students.

Munfakh entered a plea of not guilty to the charges. His attorney, Scott Leemon, stated, "Mr. Munfakh adamantly denies the allegations and looks forward to proving his innocence."

He was released on bail, having posted $20,000 cash, a $40,000 insured bond, and a $200,000 partially secured surety bond. Munfakh is scheduled to appear in court again on November 4.
