Police in Hungary have initiated a search for Akos Buzsaky, a former Premier League player, who has been missing for over a week. The 44-year-old midfielder was last seen in Budapest on August 18.
Buzsaky, who previously played for Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the English top flight, also represented clubs such as Plymouth, Portsmouth, and Barnsley. He earned 20 caps for the Hungarian national team. He made 18 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists during his career, which concluded in 2025.
The Hungarian police have not disclosed the reason for their search. Buzsaky's father, Akos Buzsaky Sr., told the Hungarian outlet Blikk that he was unaware of the police investigation into his son's whereabouts. He noted that his son frequently spends time in Greece, working as a construction contractor, and had been there for most of the past year.
"Since we don’t live under the same roof, it’s not surprising that we only speak less often," Buzsaky Sr. stated. "The last time I spoke to him was last week, when he was at home."
QPR released a statement expressing concern over the report. "The club are concerned to learn that R’s favourite Akos Buzsaky has been reported missing," the statement read. "We’re all praying he’s found safe and well."
