Former OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney has settled civil claims in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Christian Obumseli, who was fatally stabbed in their Miami apartment on April 3, 2022. The resolution of the civil case against Clenney occurred months before her attorneys announced a plea agreement in the criminal murder case.

Clenney, 30, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Obumseli, 27. Her attorneys have stated that while Clenney caused the fatal injury, she acted in self-defense, claiming she threw a knife at Obumseli after he attacked her.

Obumseli's family filed a civil lawsuit against Clenney and entities connected to their apartment building several months after her August 2022 arrest. The suit alleged battery by Clenney and claimed that the condominium, property management, and security defendants failed to provide adequate security, which the estate argued made the fatal attack foreseeable.

Court records indicate that Clenney resolved the claims against her prior to the criminal plea agreement becoming public. A notice of settlement specifically concerning Clenney was filed on December 3, 2025, and the claims against her were voluntarily dismissed with prejudice on March 4, 2026. This dismissal came 10 days before Clenney's legal team announced the plea agreement in her second-degree murder case on July 31.

The civil lawsuit continued against other defendants after Clenney's dismissal. The public civil docket does not specify the terms of Clenney's settlement.

Clenney has remained in custody since her August 2022 arrest. Her defense has argued that Obumseli was abusive and that Clenney was a victim of domestic violence. Prosecutors, however, characterized Obumseli's death as the result of a "tempestuous and combative relationship" that began in November 2020.

Clenney's attorneys confirmed a plea agreement has been reached, but noted that its terms are not final until a judge accepts them. The agreement was set to be formally presented in court on August 10. The public civil docket reviewed by Fox News Digital does not disclose the terms of Clenney’s settlement.
