Former NFL player Marcellus Wiley was arrested on July 4th on suspicion of domestic battery, after his wife, Annemarie Wiley, accused him of threatening to kill her during an altercation at a hotel in Orlando, Florida. The incident reportedly occurred in the presence of their seven-year-old daughter.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the New York Post, Annemarie Wiley called the police to report a battery after the dispute at the World Marriott. She told officers that her husband, a former Pro Bowl defensive end, stood over her and poked her in the cheek with a finger while making the threat. Annemarie Wiley, who has stated her intention to divorce her husband, also alleged a history of unreported violence. She requested Wiley be removed from their hotel room.

Marcellus Wiley denied the allegations, stating there was no physical altercation and disputing any past violent history. He provided police with text messages exchanged with his wife, which officers described as cordial. Wiley, 51, posted on social media, denying the claims and stating he would speak more freely once the legal matter is resolved and his children are protected.

He was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and held without bond. The arrest follows a recent Rolling Stone report detailing accusations of sexual assault by four women against Wiley. These allegations date back to his college years at Columbia and his time in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and San Diego Chargers. Wiley has denied these previous accusations, calling them "B.S." and stating he has evidence to disprove them.
