Former NFL running back Le'Veon Bell was arrested on Sunday in Canton, Ohio, for allegedly failing to pay $50,000 in child support.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Bell's arrest, which stemmed from a warrant issued by the Michigan Attorney General's office, where the child resides.

Bell, 34, was taken into custody at Prime Time Sports and Framing in Canton while attending an autograph signing. He is being held as a "courtesy hold" for the state of Michigan.

Bell's attorney, Thomas Shaffer, told TMZ that his client has struggled to meet the support payments, which were based on his previous NFL salary. Bell, who retired from the league after the 2021 season, earned approximately $45 million in career earnings.

He most recently played for the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, with limited playing time. Bell previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets.

In addition to the current child support issue, Bell was reportedly ordered to pay $25 million as a default judgment last year after failing to respond to a 2024 civil lawsuit.

Bell has seven children with six different women. He resides in California but had been traveling to Ohio for autograph signings to generate income.
