Former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has agreed to plead guilty to charges related to a physical altercation with a grease truck driver in Indianapolis in October 2025. Sanchez's attorneys and prosecutors filed a joint motion on Wednesday requesting that a judge vacate a Sept. 8 trial date and schedule a guilty plea and sentencing hearing instead.
The incident occurred outside an Indianapolis hotel where Sanchez, a former Fox Sports analyst, allegedly engaged in a fight with Perry Tole, a 69-year-old grease truck driver. Authorities contended that Sanchez was the instigator, with police stating he reeked of alcohol at the time. During the confrontation, Tole was body-slammed by Sanchez.
Both Sanchez and Tole were hospitalized as a result of the encounter. Sanchez reportedly sustained a stab wound during the melee. Tole claimed he was left "permanently disfigured" by the attack.
The specific charges to which Sanchez intends to plead guilty have not yet been clarified. However, he had previously faced a series of charges, including battery resulting in serious bodily injury, battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. The plea agreement is contingent on a judge's acceptance.
