Ex-Google AI Executive Accused of Sexual Assault in Minnesota
Antony Sun Liwanag faces charges of criminal sexual conduct after an alleged incident following a wedding event.
A former executive at Google's AI division, Antony Sun Liwanag, has been charged with sexually assaulting a female colleague in Minnesota, according to prosecutors. The alleged incident occurred on July 2, 2026, in St. Louis Park, a suburb of Minneapolis.
Liwanag, 33, of San Francisco, faces two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Court documents state the woman was in town for a co-worker's wedding and attended a pre-wedding gathering at a local bar. Liwanag, also a co-worker, was present and invited the woman to another bar.
At the second bar, the woman reported feeling disoriented after consuming several drinks, believing they may have been spiked. She told authorities that Liwanag began kissing her without consent and that she attempted to push him away. The documents further allege that Liwanag reached under her dress and touched her.
He then ordered an Uber to her hotel. During the ride, she allegedly indicated she did not want to go, but struggled to control her body and collapsed outside the bar. Hotel surveillance footage showed Liwanag carrying the woman, who appeared severely impaired, to her room. Prosecutors allege he attempted to sexually assault her again inside the hotel room, but the woman was able to resist.
The woman returned home the following day and did not attend the wedding. Authorities have sought an arrest warrant for Liwanag, citing him as a danger to public safety.
Liwanag's work history includes roles in strategy and operations at Google DeepMind and YouTube. A Google spokesperson confirmed that Liwanag "no longer works here," but declined to provide further details.
