Investigators are reportedly closing in on the individual captured on surveillance footage tampering with Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera on the night of her disappearance, according to a former FBI agent. Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1. No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.

Investigators had previously released footage showing a masked man at Guthrie's doorstep on the night she went missing. The individual appeared armed and was seen manipulating a security camera near the entrance.

Former FBI agent Maureen O'Connell stated on a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly Show that investigators are nearing identification of this suspect, whom she believes is crucial to solving the case. O'Connell suggested that investigators are approximately 75 percent of the way towards identifying and apprehending the suspect. "I think they're close right now to pulling this case together, and that's what my sources are telling me. Things are happening," O'Connell said.

The FBI was able to recover the doorbell camera footage by accessing residual data stored on backend servers, despite initial reports from Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos that no footage was available due to a lack of a subscription to a cloud storage service. The recovered black-and-white video shows the masked figure tampering with the camera shortly before it was disconnected at 1:47 a.m. on February 1. Savannah Guthrie, speaking in March, described the footage as "absolutely terrifying" and expressed the unimaginable terror her mother may have experienced. In a recent appearance on the Today show, she made an emotional plea for public assistance, stating, "I just want to take the opportunity to ask people to really to beg people to come forward - somebody knows something."

The Guthrie family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Nancy's whereabouts. In February, the family reportedly received two ransom notes. The first demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin, while the second claimed that Nancy Guthrie had died. The latter message allegedly included an apology from the suspected kidnappers, who stated they did not intend for her to die.
