Ex-Doge Engineer Leads Trump Administration's Digital Overhaul
Edward Coristine, known as 'Big Balls,' is spearheading the development of America.gov, a unified digital portal for federal services and information.
Edward Coristine, a former Dogecoin engineer widely known by the moniker "Big Balls," is a key figure in the Trump administration's initiative to create a centralized digital gateway to the federal government. The new platform, America.gov, aims to streamline access to government information and services, which are currently dispersed across thousands of individual websites.
Coristine, who began working on the government efficiency effort at age 19, previously spent time at Elon Musk's Neuralink company. He told Fox News Digital that his experience at Dogecoin provided insight into the difficulties citizens face when trying to navigate federal services. "I think that the fact that there’s 29,000 government websites is pretty insane," Coristine stated, emphasizing the objective for citizens to not have to decipher which website to use for specific needs.
The America.gov platform, launched on September 29, utilizes artificial intelligence to serve as a single point of entry for information sourced from various government agencies. President Donald Trump highlighted Coristine as the lead engineer for the project during its unveiling.
Beyond consolidating information, the administration plans to digitize more government services. Coristine indicated that first-time passport applications will become fully digital through America.gov, a significant expansion from the existing online renewal system. "Specifically with passports, what we’re going to do is we’re gonna make new passports online for the first time ever," he said, describing the current in-person process as "very manual."
Under the new system, users are expected to be able to take passport photos at home, preview the image, and complete the application process entirely online via America.gov. Coristine likened President Trump's approach to digital government to his background in hospitality, stating, "any great host knows they have to make things easy, they have to make it all feel clean."
Coristine's public profile rose significantly following an assault in Washington, D.C.'s Logan Circle in August 2025. The incident, which left him with a broken nose and concussion, garnered national attention. He has credited the Trump administration's focus on public safety for improving conditions in the city, saying, "I really thank President Trump for making D.C. safe again."
