Ex-Dem Insider Alleges Fundraising 'Pyramid Scheme' and Deception in 2024 Election Cycle

A former Democratic fundraiser, Lindy Li, has alleged that the party employed a fundraising "pyramid scheme" and perpetuated a "lie" about President Joe Biden's cognitive abilities during the 2024 election cycle. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Li, who has since switched her party affiliation, stated that access within the party was contingent on upholding the assertion that Biden was not experiencing cognitive decline.

"It was: ‘maintain this very obvious lie in return for access,’" Li recalled. "And whoever maintained, whoever was most strident in propounding that lie got the most access. And whoever subverted it or dared to ask questions would see their access quickly diminish."

Li, who is chronicling these events in her new book, "Unburdened," believes that fundraising numbers were often misleading, with top recruiters sometimes claiming credit for the work of subordinates. She described a system where recruiters could claim up to $250,000 of a recruited fundraiser's total, and even "poach" donors, leading to individuals reaching significant fundraising totals without personally raising the funds.

"It's like accounting gimmicks and machinations rather than real money. I know there were people who were double counted," Li said.

Li, who worked closely with top donors, party members, and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), detailed how a substantial portion of Kamala Harris's campaign spending, over half a billion dollars, went to four large media contracting companies: Media Buying & Analytics, Gambit Strategies, Bully Pulpit Interactive, and Dupont Circle Strategies. She claimed these companies received enormous fees, with the majority of raised money going into TV ads.

"The consultants get the money, the consultants that are hired by the campaign, and they're friends of the candidate or friends of Jen O’Malley-Dillon. It's a very incestuous process," Li stated, referring to the Harris campaign chair.

She further criticized what she perceived as excessive spending on non-essential items and luxury services, such as $350,000 for a Las Vegas sphere appearance, private jet services, and stays at Ritz-Carlton hotels, while allegedly neglecting strategic areas like Philadelphia, a key state in the 2024 election projections.

Li expressed dismay at the party's messaging to donors who contributed money with the stated goal of "saving democracy." She believes that many donors, motivated by a dislike of Donald Trump and a fear of his potential presidency, liquidated their savings to contribute, with the campaign raising $2.5 billion in seven weeks.

"Everyone knew, everyone played along," Li concluded.
