Ex-Colleague Accuses DJ Funkmaster Flex of Shoving Her at Knicks Game
TT Torrez claims DJ Funkmaster Flex initiated a physical altercation at Madison Square Garden, escalating a verbal dispute.
Media personality TT Torrez has accused DJ Funkmaster “Funk” Flex of “shoving her violently” during an altercation that occurred in the Delta Lounge at Madison Square Garden during the Knicks’ home opener on Tuesday night. Torrez, a former colleague at HOT 97, stated that her husband was defending her when the incident escalated.
In an official statement released by her representative, Torrez alleged that a verbal altercation between her husband and Funk Flex turned into a physical confrontation. She stated that the circulating video of the incident does not fully represent the situation, citing years of alleged harassment, intimidation, and bullying from Funk Flex that she had been dealing with behind the scenes.
According to her rep, Torrez filed an online police report regarding the incident on Tuesday night. Her statement indicated that she had previously addressed these matters professionally and through legal channels, which resulted in a settlement with Mediaco Hot 97 and a non-disparagement agreement. Torrez claims Funkmaster Flex has continued to violate this agreement, and that the events at the Knicks game were a continuation of her private struggle.
“The brief video circulating online does not tell the full story. What the public saw was a husband defending his wife and does not reflect the years Mrs. Torrez spent working to resolve this matter with dignity, professionalism and the guidance of her legal team,” the statement read. “Her experience should not be reduced to social media entertainment.”
Torrez has stated that she will continue to address the matter through her legal counsel and will not comment further. Madison Square Garden security reportedly removed Funkmaster Flex from the building following the incident.
Funk Flex, who was also present at the game for the Knicks’ championship ring and banner ceremony, denied the allegations on social media. He claimed that a man from a record label threw a drink at him and was seeking a lawsuit. In a subsequent Instagram story, Funk Flex commented on the circulating video, suggesting that his opponent's team had an open case against him.
Funk Flex indicated he plans to discuss the incident further on his Hot 97 show on Thursday evening. The Knicks ultimately lost their season opener to the Philadelphia 76ers, 106-100.
