Ex-49er Joseph Williams Arrested in West Hollywood After Foot Chase
Former NFL running back Joseph Williams was apprehended in West Hollywood following a traffic stop and subsequent foot pursuit by deputies.
Former San Francisco 49ers running back Joseph Williams was arrested in West Hollywood on Wednesday after leading authorities on a chase and refusing to surrender. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies initially stopped Williams, 33, around 4 p.m. near La Brea and Fountain avenues for a suspected traffic violation, issuing a verbal warning.
Deputies later discovered Williams had an active felony warrant for receiving stolen property. When they stopped him a second time, Williams fled on foot through the streets of West Hollywood. Authorities apprehended him on Formosa Avenue near Romaine Street.
Williams was taken into custody on suspicion of receiving stolen property, resisting or obstructing an officer, vandalism, trespassing, and violating the terms of probation or supervised release. He is being held on $50,000 bail for the felony warrant and is scheduled to appear in court on November 2 at the LAX Superior Courthouse.
The 49ers drafted Williams in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played in 19 games across two seasons before the team released him in 2018 due to injuries and a lack of production.
