Actress Eva Longoria, 51, has largely relocated from the United States to Spain, citing political concerns and a perceived shift in the atmosphere of Los Angeles. Longoria, who holds dual US and Spanish citizenship, stated in late 2024 that she feels the "American chapter in my life is done now."

Longoria expressed apprehension about living in the US after Donald Trump secured a second term in 2024, stating she feared he "would keep his promises," making the country a "scary place." She noted that after Trump began filling key posts in his administration, which faced criticism, she felt the need to "escape and go somewhere." She added that she felt "anxiety and sadness" for other Americans who would not have the same opportunity to leave.

Life in Spain

Longoria, who campaigned for Kamala Harris in the presidential election, now resides primarily in Spain and Mexico with her husband, José Bastón, and their son, Santiago. The couple purchased a villa in Marbella, Spain, in early 2023 and subsequently undertook renovations, including the addition of a home cinema, sauna, and gym. They also sold their Beverly Hills mansion in February 2024, slashing the listing price from $22.8 million to $18.9 million, as they were "ready to get out."

Longoria explained that even before the COVID-19 pandemic, she observed changes in Los Angeles, describing the "vibe was different" and that the pandemic "pushed it over the edge." She attributed this to factors including homelessness and taxes, stating, "it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now." While acknowledging her privilege in being able to live abroad, Longoria and her family have expressed contentment with splitting their time between Mexico and Spain. She was awarded the honorary title of "Dame" in Spain in 2022 due to her ancestral ties to Oviedo.
