Estranged Wife of GOP Senate Candidate Ken Paxton Confirms She Will Vote Republican

Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton has announced her intention to vote for the Republican ticket in the upcoming election, emphasizing the importance of maintaining GOP control of the U.S. Senate seat. This declaration comes amidst her ongoing divorce proceedings from her estranged husband, Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton.

In a newly released political ad, Angela Paxton addresses what she calls the "elephant in the room," stating, "In a general election, it’s not as much about the individual players on the team; it’s about getting the whole team across the finish line." She continued, "Either we hold every Republican seat, or we hand the future of Texas to the other team. That’s why I’m voting for the Republican ticket on Nov. 3. Let’s hold the line together."

The ad does not name Ken Paxton directly but is seen as a significant statement as he faces a closely contested race against Democratic nominee James Talarico. A recent Fox News Poll indicates a tight contest, with Talarico holding 51% support and Paxton at 49% among likely Texas voters, a margin within the poll's sampling error. The same poll showed that 50% of likely voters preferred Republican control of the U.S. Senate, compared to 49% who favored Democratic control.

This is not the first time Angela Paxton has publicly framed her voting intentions around party unity. In September, she spoke at the Texas Federation of Republican Women, describing the situation as the "elephant in the room" and asserting that "it’s not the people, it’s the seat." She added at the time that "We have more control over that seat and the future when we control the seat, when it’s still in the family, even if we’re mad at them." She further noted that if the seat were lost to the opposing party, the efforts to address specific issues would be overshadowed by the challenge of regaining control.

Angela Paxton filed for divorce from Ken Paxton in July 2025, after 38 years of marriage, citing "biblical grounds" and alleging that her husband had committed adultery. She stated that her decision was made in light of "recent discoveries" and that remaining in the marriage would not honor God or be loving to herself, her children, or Ken.

The political ad supporting the Republican ticket was funded by Texas PAC, a political action committee affiliated with Senate Majority Leader John Thune. Ken Paxton has also received endorsements and financial support from prominent figures, including President Donald Trump and his MAGA Inc. political action committee, as well as Elon Musk's America PAC.
