Media tycoon Antony Catalano and his estranged wife, Stefanie, were seen together on a Melbourne street this week, marking their first public reunion since he was accused of assaulting her. The couple, married for 14 years and with four children together, appeared to be engaged in a serious discussion.

Catalano, 59, reportedly left rehabilitation and is said to be attempting to reconcile with his wife. He was observed carrying a phone, earbuds, and a black diary, while Stefanie was dressed in casual attire. They arrived and departed the meeting in separate vehicles. Three sources familiar with the couple indicated a reconciliation had occurred on Friday.

This meeting stands in stark contrast to the alleged events of March 13, when Catalano reportedly held a clothes iron to his wife's head and dragged her by her hair at their St. Kilda penthouse. Court documents detailed an incident where Catalano, allegedly under the influence of drugs after a birthday dinner, confronted Stefanie in their bedroom. He is accused of demanding her phone, dragging her through the residence, and holding an iron near her head, all while she screamed for help and attempted to escape.

Stefanie reportedly sought hospital treatment for a fractured tailbone and subsequently traveled to Canada with their children. Catalano faces charges including assault, false imprisonment, and making threats to kill. He has since undergone substance abuse treatment.

Prior to his arrest, Catalano was reportedly seen at the Formula One Grand Prix with a woman visiting from Sydney, later dining with her. The publication noted that this meeting was not suggested to be connected to the subsequent alleged assault.

Following his arrest, Catalano issued a statement expressing shame and humiliation, and stepped down as executive chairman of Australian Community Media. He acknowledged urging from close family and friends to seek professional help and expressed regret for not confronting his mental health issues sooner.

In June, Catalano successfully petitioned the court to vary his bail conditions, allowing him to visit his family in Byron Bay, provided he remained sober. Catalano, a significant figure in Australian media, previously resigned as chief executive of Domain real estate classifieds in 2018 and co-owned Australian Community Media, which publishes several regional newspapers. He also has an extensive property portfolio, including the St. Kilda penthouse, which was listed for sale prior to the alleged assault, and a property in Victoria's snowfields that is also on the market.
