Esther McGregor to Star in 'Fourth Wing' Adaptation
The daughter of actor Ewan McGregor has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Prime Video series based on Rebecca Yarros's fantasy novel.
Esther McGregor, daughter of actor Ewan McGregor, is set to star as Violet Sorrengail in the television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros's best-selling fantasy novel, "Fourth Wing." The series will be available on Prime Video.
McGregor, 24, will portray a dragon rider who becomes romantically involved with a former adversary. The novel, which has been translated into 40 languages, is the first in a series that Amazon plans to adapt for the screen, contingent on the success of "Fourth Wing."
German actor Emilio Sakraya is reportedly in discussions to play the male lead, Xaden Riorson. The plot of "Fourth Wing" centers on Violet Sorrengail's journey as she navigates combat and discovers a hidden history that connects her family to Riorson's.
McGregor's previous acting credits include a role as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield in Amazon's "We Were Liars" and appearances in "Obi-Wan Kenobi" alongside her father. Her older sister, Clara McGregor, also has an established career as an actress and film producer.
Yarros's novel has also inspired two follow-up books and a novella, with plans for further adaptations depending on the reception of the initial series.
