ESPN Host Alyssa Lang Suffers Concussion in Highway Collision
Lang taken off air following 'scary accident' but expects to return soon.
ESPN College Football host Alyssa Lang announced Saturday that she sustained a concussion and minor bruises after being involved in a car accident on Thursday night.
Lang, who was absent from her hosting duties on Friday and Saturday, took to X, formerly Twitter, to explain her absence.
"I was involved in a scary accident late Thursday night when someone slammed into my car while driving on the highway," Lang posted. "Thankfully, I was very lucky - walked away with just some bruises and a concussion. Resting this weekend so that I can be back soon."
She also used the incident as an opportunity to urge others to drive safely.
"Will use this as a reminder for folks to please drive safely and pay attention, because things can change in an instant," Lang wrote.
Lang joined ESPN in 2018 and has become a key figure in the network's college football coverage, hosting studio wrap-around shows on Friday and Saturday nights. She also anchored "SportsCenter" in 2024.
Messages of support flooded in from colleagues and fans following her announcement. ESPN's Kevin Negandhi wished Lang a speedy recovery, stating, "Rest up Alyssa. Thankfully you're ok. Take care of yourself. We got your back in studio."
