Espada a Finalist for Mariners Manager Job Amidst Astros' Search
The former Astros skipper is reportedly a leading candidate for the open managerial position with the Seattle Mariners.
Joe Espada, recently dismissed as manager of the Houston Astros, has emerged as a finalist for the vacant managerial role with the rival Seattle Mariners. The Astros are concurrently searching for both a new general manager and manager.
Espada was considered a frontrunner for the Mariners' position, especially after former Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli withdrew his name from consideration, citing family reasons. This development appears to place Espada in a strong position to secure the job.
Another publicly known candidate for the Mariners' job is Cubs executive Jason Kanzler, who is noted for his expertise in hitting instruction. The Mariners are also reportedly seeking to enhance their hitting support, making Kanzler a potential candidate regardless of the managerial decision.
The Mariners are reportedly aiming to conclude their search for a new manager shortly after the conclusion of the World Series.
The Astros organization is currently navigating a period of transition, having recently parted ways with Espada and remaining without a general manager.
