Erin Foster Hints at 'Nobody Wants This' Season 4, Teases New Character Introduction

Creator Erin Foster has shared a hopeful update regarding the future of the Netflix romantic comedy "Nobody Wants This," indicating an eagerness to continue the story of Noah and Joanne, whose relationship has been a central focus of the series. Foster confirmed that she and the writing team are ready to reconvene if Netflix greenlights a fourth season.

"Yeah, I mean we’re, you know, we’re always open," Foster stated in an interview. "I think as the season comes out and we see people’s reactions, then, you know, we wait for the call, and we’re ready to go if they want us."

The third season of "Nobody Wants This" concluded with Noah (Adam Brody) and Joanne (Kristen Bell) tying the knot, navigating the complexities of their families. However, unresolved plotlines, particularly involving the evolving relationship between Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Sasha (Timothy Simons), have fueled fan anticipation for more episodes.

Morgan and Sasha's dynamic shifted significantly in Season 3 when they developed a romantic connection after initially being friends. Foster noted that this storyline felt organic, developing after addressing Sasha's past relationship with Esther (Jackie Tohn) in the previous season. The writers focused on ensuring Morgan and Sasha's arc felt meaningful, exploring Morgan's struggles with self-worth and her desire to avoid toxic relationships.

"It really, it really reveals itself, you know? I mean, we really needed to clean up him and Esther in Season 2 and end with him and Morgan as friends with an asterisk of like ‘it’s complicated,'" Foster explained. "And Morgan is just struggling to be herself and be with someone who appreciates her for who she is. And she doesn’t wanna be in a toxic relationship so it all just kind of merged together in the perfect way."

Furthermore, Foster confirmed that a previously mentioned but unseen character – Morgan's ex-husband, who has been alluded to as a source of trauma for Morgan – could be introduced in a potential fourth season. The character's absence has been felt, and Foster suggested that meeting him would be a priority if the show continues.

"Yes, definitely. It’s funny, because kind of every season we’ve thought, ‘Do we bring her ex-husband into the mix?’ And we haven’t really known which way we want to go with it. And so I do think that if we do a fourth season, we would want to meet him,” she said.

"Nobody Wants This" is loosely inspired by Foster's own real-life relationship. The series is currently streaming on Netflix.
