Erin Foster, the creator of the hit Netflix series "Nobody Wants This," has spoken out about the differing political views she and star Adam Brody hold regarding the Israel-Gaza war. Foster, who converted to Judaism before marrying music executive Simon Tikhman, stated that while she and Brody disagree on the conflict, their working relationship remains positive.

Brody, who was raised Jewish, voiced strong opinions in a recent interview with GQ, calling the situation in Gaza "a genocide" and expressing a desire for "a free Palestine." He also noted that recent global events, including the conflict, have highlighted differing beliefs among his colleagues and within Hollywood.

Foster addressed Brody's comments on the "Not Skinny but Not Fat" podcast, describing the situation on set as "complicated" and similar to family dinner discussions where disagreements occur. "While I love Adam, I also disagree with him,” Foster said. “And that’s OK.” She emphasized that "Nobody Wants This" is intended as a "love letter to Judaism" and aims to provide positive representation for Jewish people, particularly during a time she feels there is a lack of it in media.

Brody's remarks on the Israel-Gaza war have drawn criticism from some viewers and professional acquaintances. Rabbi Steve Leder, who served as a technical advisor for the show's first season, publicly rebuked Brody's use of the term "genocide" in relation to Gaza, calling it "disgusting" and "flippant."

Foster's comments come as "Nobody Wants This," a romantic comedy loosely based on her relationship with her husband, has released its third season. The show centers on the romance between a young rabbi, played by Brody, and an agnostic podcaster, portrayed by Kristen Bell.

Writer-producer Erin Foster, right, converted to Judaism shortly before marrying music executive Simon Tikhman in 2019. She previously confirmed that “Nobody Wants This” is loosely based on her romance with Tikhman.

The discourse around celebrity opinions on the Israel-Gaza war has become a significant point of contention in Hollywood, with other public figures also facing scrutiny for their stances. The situation reflects broader societal divisions and the complex role celebrities play in addressing political and humanitarian issues.
