Eric Roberts, father of actress Emma Roberts, has confirmed he did not attend his daughter's wedding to Cody John. In a statement to Page Six, he addressed their relationship, which has been described as "complicated."

"I love my daughter, always have, always will," Eric Roberts said. "It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants."

The reason for his absence from the Idaho ceremony remains unclear, as does whether he was invited. The wedding saw Emma Roberts, 35, and John, 36, exchange vows with a guest list that included Emma's aunt Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder, as well as actors Demi Moore, Kristen Stewart, and Sarah Paulson.

Emma Roberts was walked down the aisle by her five-year-old son, Rhodes, whom she shares with ex-partner Garrett Hedlund. Roberts wore a custom white gown with asymmetrical sleeves by Monique Lhuillier for the ceremony and changed into an archival afterparty dress by the same designer. John wore a brown suit.

Roberts told Vogue that she wanted her wedding gown to feel "very vintage-inspired," drawing inspiration from antique books and ephemera. The night before the wedding, she wore a white ballgown for a pre-nuptial outing with loved ones.

Eric Roberts, the older brother of Julia Roberts, has previously commented on his relationship with his daughter, stating in an interview with Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson that their relationship is "only complicated through outside eyes… because they don't get any of it."

He and ex-partner Kelly Cunningham welcomed Emma in February 1991, separating seven months later.

Roberts and John began dating in 2022 and confirmed their relationship in August of that year. They announced their engagement in 2024 via Instagram. Roberts had previously expressed a desire not to date actors, citing the difficulties and challenges of such relationships, although she noted her father's long-standing marriage to actress Eliza Garrett as an example of success.
