Eric Bauza, Voice Actor for Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, Dies at 46

Eric Bauza, the contemporary voice actor behind iconic characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, has died at the age of 46. His work preserved the legacy of these beloved Looney Tunes characters for a new generation.

Bauza took on vocal duties for many Looney Tunes characters in projects for HBO Max, including over 200 short cartoons. He also lent his voice to the Looney Tunes films The Day the Earth Blew Up and Coyote vs. Acme. His ability to inhabit these classic roles followed in the tradition of Mel Blanc, the original voice of nearly all Looney Tunes characters.

In 2026, Bauza showcased his extensive range by voicing more than 15 characters across two major film releases: the animated comedy Coyote vs. Acme and the horror film Buddy. He also contributed multiple voices to the DreamWorks production Forgotten Island.

Bauza's career spanned a wide array of projects beyond Looney Tunes. He provided "additional voices" for films such as The Emoji Movie and a Smurfs sequel, voiced DC Comics characters including Aquaman in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, and portrayed Luke Skywalker in various Lego Star Wars specials. His talent for vocal mimicry allowed him to capture the essence of established characters while bringing his own energy to them.

Colleagues remembered Bauza as a welcoming and friendly individual with talents extending to stand-up comedy and cartooning. He began his career working on a revival of Ren & Stimpy. His contributions were significant not only for their vocal skill but also for ensuring that classic characters were voiced by performers dedicated to their craft, rather than solely relying on celebrity casting.

Some of Bauza's notable works include:

Looney Tunes Cartoons

This series of contemporary shorts aims to recapture the spirit of the original Looney Tunes. Bauza's versatile performances are central to the show, as he voiced multiple characters across numerous episodes.

The Day the Earth Blew Up

A feature film spun off from Looney Tunes Cartoons, this movie heavily features Bauza's renditions of Daffy Duck and Porky Pig.

Coyote vs. Acme

In this film, Bauza voiced characters including the Roadrunner, providing the iconic "meep meep!" sound. The movie faced distribution challenges before its release.

Lego Star Wars

Bauza lent his voice to Luke Skywalker in several Lego Star Wars specials, offering a fresh take on the character within whimsical narratives.

Unikitty!

A spinoff from The Lego Movie, this series featured Bauza in various roles, including recurring characters like Master Frown.
