Upscale grocery chain Erewhon opened its 14th location on August 26 in Thousand Oaks, marking its first store outside of Los Angeles County. The new store is located at Lakes Mall and will be the chain's northernmost outpost.
The grand opening event on August 26 included complimentary bags and flowers for Erewhon members, as well as store-specific merchandise. Exclusive menu items, such as a steak sandwich on a toasted baguette and an "Amidst the Oaks smoothie," were also available. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the "Amidst the Oaks smoothie" will be donated to Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank, a local food pantry.
Erewhon, known for its celebrity-endorsed, often $20 smoothies, has been steadily expanding its presence across Southern California. Earlier this year, the grocer opened new locations in Los Angeles and West Hollywood. Future expansion plans include a store in Costa Mesa in September and a Downtown Los Angeles location in 2027.
The brand offers various membership tiers, including an annual membership for $200 that includes a free monthly smoothie and exclusive discounts. Higher tiers, such as "Premier" for those spending over $5,000 annually and "Reserve" for those spending over $15,000 annually, offer benefits like free delivery, priority checkout, and expedited service at the smoothie counter.
The opening in Thousand Oaks follows a pattern of significant customer turnout at previous Erewhon store launches, with some customers arriving hours before opening to secure limited-edition merchandise.
