Enes Kanter Freedom has challenged former U.S. women's soccer star Megan Rapinoe to a one-on-one soccer match, offering $5 million to a charity of her choice if she can beat him.
The challenge came during an appearance on Fox News @ Night on Thursday, after Freedom was shown a clip of Rapinoe questioning his actions on her podcast. Freedom responded directly to Rapinoe, stating she has been seeking attention following her "washed-up career" and that he would provide it.
"So, Megan Rapinoe, I’m speaking directly to you. After your washed-up career, you’ve been seeking attention, and I will give you that attention because I’m a nice guy," Freedom said. "So here I am, I am offering you $5 million to any charity you want. If you beat me 1-on-1 in soccer, I promise you, any charity you want, I will be donating $5 million."
Freedom added that he would set the time and place for the match. He also criticized Rapinoe, labeling her as "one of those female athletes that advocate in males playing in women’s sports."
This challenge follows Freedom's recent controversial decision to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft as a transgender athlete. He has been documenting his training for this pursuit on social media, referring to it as his "transition to the WNBA."
Freedom's attempt to join the WNBA draft has drawn criticism, particularly after an 11-year NBA career. He was reportedly escorted out of a WNBA game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever on a recent Sunday after an exchange with player Natasha Cloud. Additionally, Sparks star Cameron Brink was reported to have called Freedom "a stupid piece of s–t" and accused him of trying to "stay relevant."
