Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom has been banned from the Wintrust Arena, home of the Chicago Sky, following an altercation with player Natasha Cloud during a recent game. The team's owner, Michael Alter, stated that Kanter Freedom showed "the potential to be a threat" during the incident.

Cloud approached Kanter Freedom while he was seated courtside, leading to a heated exchange that was captured in a viral video. Security intervened, and Kanter Freedom was removed from the arena. Alter indicated that Kanter Freedom would only be permitted to return if he could demonstrate an ability to "abide by our rules without being a potential threat."

Kanter Freedom, who has publicly expressed his interest in entering the 2027 WNBA Draft, was in attendance at the game. Alter mentioned that he learned of Kanter Freedom's attendance via a text message from the former player's agent to the team's general manager. The owner's "one regret," he stated, was not informing the team's players about Kanter Freedom's presence before the game.

Alter suggested that Kanter Freedom's intention was to "be provocative and just see how much attention he could get." According to Alter, who cited multiple eyewitness accounts, Kanter Freedom initiated the interaction with Cloud during the third quarter. He characterized the exchange as "trash talking, nothing personal" and "basketball-related, but enough to get her attention and to engage her, and in my opinion, to try to provoke her."

Multiple security personnel agreed on the decision to eject Kanter Freedom, with Alter asserting that the former player "made himself into a threat."
