Erika Kirk, wife of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, departed the courtroom Monday as a former campus police officer recounted the events leading to her husband's death last September. The testimony marked the beginning of an emotional week of proceedings.

Officer Chris Bagley described hearing a rifle shot and witnessing Charlie Kirk collapse during an event held on the campus of Utah Valley University. Judge Tony Graf reminded attendees that they could re-enter the courtroom after leaving.

The hearing, scheduled to continue throughout the week, will determine whether sufficient evidence exists to proceed to a trial for the 23-year-old suspect, Tyler Robinson.
