Emmy-Winning Producer Arrested for Stalking Former Anchor Wife Days After Divorce Finalized

An Emmy-winning television producer in North Carolina has been arrested on felony stalking charges and misdemeanor violation of a domestic violence protective order, days after his divorce from longtime news anchor Lynda Loveland was finalized.

Randall Saunders Kerr, 55, was arrested on Oct. 20, 2026, after allegedly driving near Loveland's home multiple times a day between Oct. 13 and Oct. 18. Court records indicate that Kerr drove within 300 yards of Loveland's residence, including on a street directly behind the property.

Loveland filed a complaint on Dec. 19, 2025, detailing alleged harassment that began after the couple separated in August 2025. In the complaint, Loveland stated she feared for her safety and wrote, "I'm scared I'm going to wake up one night and see him standing there in my room." She also alleged that Kerr monitored her text messages and emails, searched through her personal belongings, and used shared technology to track her location.

One incident described in the complaint involved Loveland discovering an upstairs bathroom window open in October 2025. When confronted, Kerr allegedly admitted to using a ladder to climb through the second-story window to use the bathroom. Following this, Loveland changed the locks on her doors and windows and purchased pepper spray.

A Wake County judge granted Loveland an emergency domestic violence protective order on Dec. 19, 2025. This order prohibited Kerr from contacting or harassing her and required him to remain at least 300 yards away from her. On Jan. 27, 2026, a consent protective order was entered, signed by both parties and approved by the court. This order barred Kerr from possessing or purchasing firearms.

The couple's marriage, which began in April 2001, was formally dissolved on Oct. 9, 2026, just four days before the alleged stalking incidents began. They share three adult children.

Kerr, an investigative producer at WRAL in Raleigh, had previously been honored with a regional Emmy Award in 2016 for a report titled "Swatting."

Following his arrest, Kerr was held without bond under North Carolina's domestic violence pretrial release law. A subsequent order on Oct. 21 further barred him from contacting Loveland and required him to stay within 100 yards of her or locations covered by the protective order. Kerr remains in custody without bond on the felony stalking charge and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 6. WRAL has not yet commented on Kerr's employment status.
