Emmett J. Scanlan Celebrates Wife Claire Cooper's Birthday with Heartfelt Tribute
The "MobLand" actor shared a romantic message on Instagram for his wife's 46th birthday, recalling their 16-year journey since meeting on "Hollyoaks."
Emmett J. Scanlan, star of Guy Ritchie's "MobLand," penned a touching birthday tribute to his wife, Claire Cooper, who celebrated her 46th birthday on Monday. The Irish actor, 47, posted a series of cherished moments on Instagram, accompanying a heartfelt message for his "beautiful" wife.
Scanlan and Cooper first met 16 years ago on the set of the British soap opera "Hollyoaks." They married in 2015 and are parents to two children: son Ocean-Torin, six, and daughter Fiáin-Luna, four. Scanlan also has an older daughter, Kayla, from a previous relationship.
In his public message, Scanlan affectionately described Cooper as "annoying, beautiful and compassionate." He recalled their early days, writing, "On May 19th 2010 I joined Oaks. Met Coops. Fell in love. Refused to leave until she fell in love. She did. Refused to leave anyway." He continued, "Baby you are the most annoying beautiful compassionate nut job I will ever meet. Never change."
He humorously added a few lighthearted requests, including a plea for her to "stop loading the dishwasher like you were in a fuckin hurricane" and to "stop passing out 3 minutes into every movie." He also jokingly suggested fewer "conspiracy reels on insta." Ultimately, he concluded, "I'm here for all of it. Happy birthday Jaffa."
Cooper portrayed Jacqui McQueen on "Hollyoaks" from 2006 to 2013, while Scanlan played Brendan Brady's brother from 2010 to 2013. Scanlan's current role in "MobLand" is Paul O'Donnell, the right-hand man to Conrad Harrigan.
The couple has faced significant personal challenges, including the loss of a baby in July 2019. Cooper publicly shared in October 2020, during Baby Loss Awareness Week, the profound impact of this loss and her own near-fatal health complications that followed. She described losing over a third of her blood and a slow, painful recovery, stating, "Instantly anaemic & instantly heartbroken."
