Emmanuel Acho, a former NFL linebacker and television analyst, has publicly questioned Michael Strahan's decision to welcome a new child at the age of 54. The host of ABC's Good Morning America had a baby girl in August with his girlfriend, Kayla Quick, who is 36 years old. Acho raised concerns on his podcast, "Speakeasy," about the potential challenges and implications of a significant age gap between a parent and child.
Acho suggested that becoming a father at an advanced age could set a child up for ridicule. "When, Strahan is going to be 72 when his child is graduating high school. I'm pro-life, but are you setting your kids up?" he stated. He further elaborated on the potential for negligence, asking, "If you know you're not going to be around very long for the child's life, then is it, to some degree, negligent to bring a child into the world knowing you may not be around very long to raise that child?"
Michael Strahan and Kayla Quick, who have been together for over a decade, welcomed their daughter in August. This marks Strahan's fifth child. His other children include Tanita, Michael Jr., and twins Sophia and Isabella. Strahan became a grandfather in 2024 when his eldest daughter, Tanita, had a son named Onyx.
Quick, the co-founder and CEO of beauty and wellness brand Fizzness, has largely maintained a private relationship with Strahan, making only occasional public appearances. She studied at the University of Tampa, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in mass communication and media studies. Quick has also participated in social media campaigns for companies Strahan is involved with, such as 100 Coconuts.
Strahan's daughter Isabella battled medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, in 2023. She underwent treatment and was declared cancer-free in 2024, though she later required further surgery in July 2024. Strahan also has twins, Sophia and Isabella, from his second marriage to Jean Muggli, which ended in divorce in 2006. His first marriage to Wanda Hutchins, from 1992 to 1996, produced his eldest children, Tanita and Michael Jr.
Acho, who is 35 years old, previously worked for Fox Sports One until July 2025. He is also an author, known for his books "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man" and "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Jew."
